On the other hand, when compared to the same period last year, the trade turnover registered in the first ten months of this year dropped by 4 per cent as a gross series and by 4.5 per cent as a series adjusted to the number of working days and seasonality.

The cost of the Transilvania motorway drops by 50 pc, as the American company will receive no compensation for the modification of the contract.

The US company Bechtel will leave the construction site of the Transilvania motorway in 2013 and will continue to work only on the Campia Turzii-Gilau and Suplacu de Barcau-Bors segments, which cumulate 118 of the 415 km of the motorway, thus allowing the state to put on auction the remaining six segments, Mediafax reports.

25-07-2011 - Romania to eliminate special customs tax charged for international cargo transport

Romania will eliminate the special tax charged in customs from international cargo trucks, USD 20 per vehicle or trailer, since it is contrary to community regulations and unsupported by bilateral agreements to which Romania is party, Mediafax informs. The tax was introduced in 1975 and the collection system was last revised in 1992. Current laws allow the customs authority to charge a special tax for each vehicle and trailer used in international cargo transport.

Premium Aerotec, the supplier of civil and military aircraft structures, has finished the second construction phase, therefore opening its new plant in Ghimbav, Brasov County. The production facility for aircraft components, erected in just 14 months, was officially commissioned, yesterday in the presence of Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc and European Aeronautic, Defense and Space (EADS) CEO, Louis Gallois. The new plant will specialise in the production and assembly of metal components for all Airbus series programmes. The production activity started in December 2010 on completion of the first construction phase.

Consumer service turnover fell on account of decline in travel agency, tour operator, hotel and restaurant business.

The gross business turnover in the automotive and motorcycle industry fell 4.7 per cent in April, from March, and consumer service businesses shrank 0.4 per cent, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS). The drop in wholesale and retail business, maintenance and repair was due to lower sales of car parts and accessories, down 8.7 per cent, motorcycle maintenance and overhaul, 4.8 per cent, car maintenance and repair, 3.6 per cent, and car sales, 2.5 per cent.
